At a gynaecological examination at Klinikk Hausken, the gynaecologist will do a general examination of you. The gynaecologist will usually examine the external genitalia, cervix and vagina. The gynaecologist can also take a cell sample from the cervix. Norwegian women in the age group 25-70 are recommended to take a cell sample (pap smear) every three years.
When needed, the gynaecologist conducts microbiological examinations. If you want a sample for chlamydia, the gynaecologist takes a sample from the cervix.
An examination of the uterus and ovaries can detect any tumours. Ultrasound examination can also be a valuable tool in a gynaecological examination to rule out a tumour in the abdomen.
