What are menopausal symptoms?

Most women reach menopause when they are between 45-55 years old. It is common for menopausal symptoms to begin before menstruation ends. However, some women experience menopause before they are 40 years old. It is called early menopause.

Symptoms of menopause.

It is common with bleeding disorders before menopause. Some people menstruate less often, and it can be irregular. Others experience heavy bleeding. Many people experience periods of frequent bleeding and periods of a regular menstrual cycle.

What most people associate with menopause are hot flashes and sweating. Menopausal women have less estrogen in their bodies and therefore become more sensitive to temperature fluctuations. Hot flushes are most common at night and can affect nighttime sleep.

Women experience menopause to varying degrees. In addition to hot flashes, mood swings and palpitations are common symptoms. When the body produces less estrogen, many also experience mucosal changes and the bone mass decreases after entering menopause. This leads to a more fragile skeleton, and bone mass decreases 10-15% in the first ten years after menopause.

How are menopausal symptoms treated?

The most common treatment is estrogen. During menopause, the body produces less of this hormone, and it leads to hot flashes and mood swings. Estrogen in pill form or patch can help with the symptoms. The gynaecologist will, through a conversation and examination, clarify what causes the symptoms and can start treatment.
