In consultation with a doctor, you can now choose to receive anaesthesia for egg retrieval. This is done under so-called sedation anaesthesia, which is a mild form of anaesthesia. Klinikk Hausken is the first fertility clinic in Norway to offer anaesthesia for egg retrieval.
Patients usually receive painkillers before the actual retrieval and local anaesthesia when the eggs are retrieved. For most women, this works just fine. On the other hand, some are so worried about pain or have experienced such severe pain during egg retrieval in the past that they want to carry out the treatment under anaesthesia. Therefore, we now offer general anaesthesia to those who feel the need for it.
Currently, the offer of anaesthesia/sedation is available in Stavanger where we collaborate with an anaesthesia team from Fast Track consisting of experienced anesthesiologists and anaesthesia nurses.
Patients in Oslo, Bergen and Haugesund can also take advantage of the offer since assessment, follow-up and ultrasound examinations take place at your nearest ward. Only the actual egg retrieval and return of embryos must be done in Stavanger.
