Micro-TESE is a method for extracting sperm in men who do not have sperm in ejaculated semen due to reduced / lack of production of sperm (non-obstructive azoospermia).
In non-obstructive azoospermia, we can take a tissue sample from the testicle to see whether it is the production of sperm. Micro-TESE gives the highest probability of finding sperm.
A significant advantage of the micro-TESE method is that we can also freeze tissue pieces with sperm for later use. This means that the patient undergoes a diagnostic and therapeutic operation.
Micro-TESE can also save time. We do not have to wait for testicular tissue regeneration with this method if more treatments are needed. The treatment can thus save time from examination to pregnancy (time-to-pregnancy).
If we find sperm by a micro-TESE, we know from experience that there are usually enough sperm for 3-4 in vitro treatments.
