IUI Partner - insemination of partner's sperm.

IUI Partner is insemination of partner's sperm. The method can be used when couples experience the so-called "unknown cause" or in cases with slightly reduced sperm quality. The sperm sample is cleaned and concentrated so that the number of good, moving sperm cells is increased. The sample is then inserted into the uterine cavity with a catheter. This causes the sperm to come much closer to the egg. The woman is followed up with an ultrasound so that the timing is correct in relation to ovulation. The results are not as good as IVF, but you see pregnancies up to 30% per treatment with the right selection of couples.

Men who are re-fertilised after previous sterilisation often have somewhat poorer quality than before. These may be relevant for IUI.
