What is cryopreservation of eggs – so-called egg freezing?

Egg freezing is a method that gives women the opportunity to extend their fertile age and thus increase the chance of achieving pregnancy at a later date. Eggs are retrieved and frozen in our laboratory, where they are stored for later use. When the woman wants to use the eggs, they are thawed and injected with sperm from a partner or donor. The fertilized egg is then implanted in the uterus.

When is it relevant to freeze eggs?

There are many reasons why more and more women choose to have children later in life. Pregnancy and family life can be challenging to combine with a busy career. Maybe you have not met the right one yet, or you simply feel it is not the right timing with children right now. These are common situations that cause women to delay pregnancy and children.

Unfortunately, the fertility of women decrease with age. If you postpone children for too long, there is a risk that it may be more challenging to get pregnant. This is because the number of eggs and the quality of them decreases with age.

Freezing eggs can be a solution for those who want to postpone pregnancy and, at the same time, increase the possibility of a positive result in the future. A young woman who freezes eggs prolongs her fertile age and increases the chance of getting pregnant at a later date.
